Contrary to popular
belief, all dogs can be dangerous if
provoked.
The typical “he won’t bite”
answer remains to be an unreasonable
statement after one has in-fact been
attacked or bitten by the dog.
Irrespective of the
size of a dog or its breed, it is
important to realize that there can be
potential dangers in all dogs.
The following are some tips to
help avoid dog bites or dog attacks.
- Never approach
an unfamiliar dog or unattended dog
- No not run
from a dog that is chasing you
- Do not play
with stray or unsupervised dogs
- Do not disturb
a dog that is caring for its
puppies, sleeping or eating.
- If a dog
approaches you to sniff, stay clam
and still.
- Avoid eye
contact with dogs.
- If you are
attacked and knocked to the ground,
roll into a ball and lie still.
- If bitten,
seek immediate medical attention for
your injuries and
report
the incident immediately to the
proper authorities (owner, animal
control, police department,
hospital)
